i'm going to assume you know everything. remember that thing you told me? that i was from cloud's past and you were from his future, and he was somewhere in the middle? i think something similar happened with sephiroth.

he's from before we went to check out the reactor. before everything went wrong.

i was there.

he became obsessed with his mother. jenova. ...but she was another shinra project, so i figured he must have connected some dots. he called himself the last cetra remaining.

i can't really tell for sure what he found out in that basement, but the sephiroth who is here is not the same man who burned down nibelheim. he's still himself.
